FROM THE PASTOR
Greetings Church!
This week marks my first month of service here at First Christian
Church, Haysville. I must say, the more I get to know you and the
leadership the more thankful I am for the joy of serving such a loving
group of folks. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to serve
you!
As we gathered together to meet for the various ministry and
committee meetings I shared with those meeting that serving here is an
entirely new experience. Some things are somewhat familiar, but the day
to day “business” of the church is foreign to me, not the way I am
accustomed. I came across a passage in Proverbs (15:2a) “a wise person
makes learning a joy.” I’ve made it a point to do just that. You will
be seeing changes here and there as I will, please remember the wisdom
of Solomon and make learning a joy. We have many school teachers in our
fellowship, do you remember the fulfillment you felt when one of your
students finally “got it” and began to really learn what you were
teaching? What a blessing it is to be a part of the learning process.
So whether it is a new song, new method of reaching out to others, a
new look or a new process, remember a wise person makes learning a joy.
I am joyful today as I learn more about you and this great church.
Jay

COOKIES FOR A CAUSE
January’s
Cookies for a Cause is AgapeCare Cradle of Wichita. They are a
nonprofit center that helps grieving parents who have lost a baby at
birth. In 2003, the concept of a specialized funeral center that would
meet practical, spiritual and emotional needs of grieving parents began
working together with the help of a prenatal health professional and
friends.
AgapeCare Cradle will help parents to plan a meaningful service,
and will provide funeral supplies that are uniquely individual, to
honor their precious baby’s brief life. They will conduct business
according to principals of Christian charity.
AgapeCare Cradle’s purpose is to promote emotional and spiritual
healing and restoration through funeral and memorial services and
supportive contact for one year after loss.
Any donations that you are able to make to this cause will be most
appreciated. If you are interested in volunteer opportunities, please
speak with Lenora and she will give that information to you.
