HAYSVILLE FCC NEWSLETTER 2.16.10

FROM THE PASTOR

Dear Church,

What would Haysville be like without First Christian Church? If for some reason our church suddenly vanished from the face of the earth, what would be different? Would people be left with an emptiness inside them? Would families no longer know where to turn for help? Would there be despair because the awesome love the people of FCC was no longer evident in all areas of the community?

These are questions we must ponder as we move forward. If our community would not change, or feel some sense of loss should our church suddenly cease to exist, then something would be terribly wrong. We are called to be the incarnation of Jesus in our community, our offices, our classrooms and places of business. Incarnational is just a fancy word that means that we are the “living form” of Jesus, or the presence of Jesus on the earth. Certainly Jesus is alive Himself in the Spirit, but we are His physical hands and feet! We are his voice!

Let me give you some ways churches who have an outward focused DNA think…

They believe that their communities can’t be healthy without their church.
They believe they can’t grow as Christians until they begin serving.
They understand the power of serving in the name of Jesus.
They lower the thresholds to service to include if need be, a cup of cold water given in the name of Jesus
They partner with other ministries.

I believe these things about the church… this church. There are many good things happening among us in areas of service. With the Mission Mexico 2010 coming soon and other local opportunities, my prayer is that we all join together to impact this community with the Good News of Christ! May this community know the people of FCC are people of the cross, people of the Word and people of His love in serving others!

Blessings,
Jay
