HAYSVILLE FCC NEWSLETTER 4.20.10

FROM THE PASTOR

Dear Church,
This Sunday we continue our series, “Living Deep” which covers the life of believers from the time we surrender our lives to Christ, through reaching our destiny and the journey of life uniquely given to each of us. Living Deep Faith we talked about the initial steps a believer takes to declare their faith publicly. This week we talk about discipleship!

Discipleship is costly. Are we willing to critique and even challenge much we've been taught for the sake of the kingdom? Living as a Deep Disciple, this is the radical nature of the discipleship to which Jesus calls us. He did not allow the outside culture to hold him captive; instead he established the kingdom of God and turned the world on its head. Jesus was untamed, and he calls his church to be the same. How are we to think and live day to day as followers of Jesus? Is it possible to live out the Jesus Way in the world today? In order to receive what God would have for you this week, please read and re-read Acts chapter two in the bible. What does real discipleship look like? What does it mean to be a disciple? What is required of me to be a disciple?

As I shared last week, being a believer and the subsequent life after we have declared our love for and allegiance to Jesus, is not for the faint of heart. The life of a Deep Disciple is not a part time endeavor. The life of a Deep Disciple is only for those who recognize Jesus as their Master and Teacher and are willing to devote themselves to His purposes alone.

Deep Disciples are the ones making an impact in our world today. It might surprise you to discover just how simple acts of love make huge impacts on those living all around us. I’ll be sharing some awesome stories of Christ’s Disciples in action. Hope to see you Sunday!!!
Peace, Jay
