FROM THE PASTOR
Two special occasions are just ahead: Mother's Day and
graduation. It occurs to me that they are some common traits in being an
effective mother (parent) and in qualifying to graduate. We will explore
some of these traits in my sermon Sunday.
I hope you and your family will be present this coming Sunday as
we focus on both mothers and graduates during worship.
Also, we look forward to having Marc and Teresa Bachman with us
Sunday. Teresa plays a mountain dulcimer and sings. Her husband
accompanies her on the guitar.
If you haven’t been in worship for a while why not make this
Sunday a new beginning?
George

Vacation Bible School - POWER LAB -
Vacation Bible School will be held the week of June
9-13th from 6-8:30 p.m. Kids from ages 3 years old to those who have just
completed 5th grade are welcome to attend. Early registration is very
helpful in order to get the necessary staff, curriculum and supplies.
Registration forms are available on the table in the entryway-or online at
www.fcchaysville.org
The brightly colored insert that was in your Sunday bulletin is a
list of items which are needed for VBS. Some of the items are only needed
as props or decorations and can be returned. Other items, like the
Cheez-Whiz are consumable goods and would need to be donated. This list
works like a gift registry-we've listed the item and the QTY. needed. If
you can loan or donate any of the materials on this list, please stop at
the table in the entryway and register with a "lab assistant"-you'll be
given a reminder molecule or beaker (lab jar) to take with you to remind
you, then simply bring your items to the church before May 31st -the
sooner, the better.
There is also a display whereby you can sponsor a child by buying
a beaker for any dollar amount. The money will be used to cover the $5.00
registration fee, curriculum, crafts and snacks for kids attending VBS.
Thanks for your help! If you have questions - contact Machaelle

PENTECOST SPECIAL OFFERING
Will be received Sunday, May 11, 2008
Pentecost Special Offering supports new congregations. At one point
every congregation was a new church. Since that time, it is likely that
thousands of people have had their lives touched by your congregation’s
programs and ministry. The Pentecost Offering is your opportunity to "pay
it forward" by supporting a new congregation. By planting new
congregations Disciples establish congregations that also will touch
thousands of lives over time. Sixty-five percent of the US population
does not live near a Disciples church, and there are many segments of our
population that have not had a chance to participate in a Disciples
witness.
