DISAPPOINTMENTS
We are disappointed when things happen that we
haven't planned-poor health, financial difficulties or trouble with our
children. Jesus suffered disappointment in his earthly life as well. He
was disappointed when Judas betrayed him (Matthew 26:14-25) and Peter
denied him (Matthew 26:69-75). Today he is disappointed in us when we
don't trust him.
Jesus was never disappointed in his Father, however. He knew he
could trust God in everything, even unto death on the cross. Likewise, we
can trust God, even when we don’t understand our circumstances. We know
that God loves us and that nothing can happen to us that will sever our
relationship with God (Romans 8:35-39). We are God's prized workmanship,
saved through faith in his Son, Jesus Christ. When disappointments come,
we can know that Jesus understands-and that our heavenly Father's love for
us is secure in Christ.

FROM THE E-MAIL FILE
(This e-mail came from April earlier but we never
had room to run it.)
Greetings FCC Haysville Family,
Thought I'd share a quick update with you on how we're doing in
England. Aaron is staying busy on base with flying and other tasks. Part
of his squadron left over the past few days for a 2 week assignment in
Romania. He will be a part of the second group to leave; they are set to
leave this Friday and will also be gone for two weeks. They will be
serving as part of Operation Noble Endeavour. Please keep us, as well as
the other aircrew from the squadron and their families, in your prayers
during the coming weeks.
February 1st I began working at Cartwheels Children's Centre in
Haverhill—a small town 35 minutes from where we live. I am the Support
and Information Officer-my main duties are admin-related. I am enjoying
it and finding plenty to keep myself busy.
We have been so blessed since our arrival 6 months ago. We have
had numerous opportunities to travel and have already been to London,
Bath, Dover and other English cities. We went to Normandy, France for
Veteran's Day and visited the American Cemetery. We spent Christmas in
Salzburg, Austria. Easter was spent here at "home" with a couple inches
of snow to play in! Next month we will "holiday" in Palma, Mallorca-an
island off the coast of Spain. We have also been blessed with numerous
friendships-through base, our local church, our neighbors, and my
co-workers. God is truly awesome!
As you know, after caring for our dog for 5 months, Dennis and Marsha
bid farewell to Bailey, our Golden Retriever, and she joined us here at
the end of February. We are happy to have her back. She's already made
some puppy friends and has gotten to visit our village market and puppy
park.
We have had one friend from the states visit us since our arrival
and look forward to more visitors during the coming months. You all still
have a couple of years to make a trip over here with free room and board
at B&B Devan!
We hope this finds you all well. Thank you for keeping us
informed through the newsletter and website-both look great! We thank you
for your continued support and prayers.
Sincerely, Aaron and April (Smith) Devan
