NOTE FROM THE INTERIM PASTOR Summertime brings back a lot of fond memories. For several years, especially the years my children were growing up, we had a garden. When the garden began to produce those vegetables, it was a treat to go out to the garden and pick some fresh vegetables for dinner. Everything tasted so much better when it came from the garden to the stove to the table for dinner, without passing “go.” This summer I may not have a garden planted, but I trust together we can nurture our spiritual lives right along as we nourish our physical beings. I am developing a sermon series to begin Sunday, July 12th, running through August 30th under the theme: Spiritual Food for Daily Living. Under this theme I have chosen seven one word titles, which I trust will be easy to remember. The first of these messages will be on July 12th simply titled: “Trust.” Subsequent messages will be: Worry, Conversion, Faith, Commitment, Compassion, and Love. Scripture will be our guide as we explore these various topics; hopefully they will help us in our daily lives. Summer has a way of being a busy time of the year, with a number of activities taking place in our lives. Summer has been an exciting time at church. I hate to miss a Sunday for fear something exciting will be taking place. Besides, when you come into worship you are not only coming into the presence of the Lord, it is also cooler inside. Blessings be with you all. DID YOU KNOW? Marlaine Holmes was released from Our Lady of Lourdes Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, June 27, 2009. Keep her in your prayers as she continues her recovery at home. This is old news to some of you, but here it is again. Bella Del Rey was born June 20, 2009 to Donelle and Del Rey. She was welcomed by her brother Hunter, six years old and sister Abby, 4 years old. Dale and Donna Atkeson now have 14 grandchildren. (7 boys and 7 girls) Connie Tucker has been blessed with a job. It was the only one she interviewed for and promises to be a great opportunity. God is AWESOME! |

THANK YOU My son, Adrian Rodgers Jr. is recovering nicely after his bout with viral meningitis. Thank you all so very much for your prayers. I know that is what finally prompted the doctors to do a spinal tap and make the diagnosis. Beverly Rodgers |

SERVE-IVOR MISSION WEEK Who will out-last, out-love and out-serve their competition and earn the privilege of deciding which Christian charity is awarded $500.00? Well, it very well could be Alex Marsh, Betsy Burke or Morgan Shetler. Sunday, July 5 through Sunday, July 12 they, along with youth from Haysville Christian Church, will participate in an unusual mission/service experience. The youth will be “stranded” on location with limited resources and asked to complete tasks in order to gain immunity and luxuries. In the end, one youth will be voted the ultimate “Serve-ivor” and the Christian charity of their choice will be awarded $500.00 on their behalf. Although this will certainly be a rewarding experience for them, it will undoubtedly be emotionally trying and gut wrenching. Please pray for them….specifically that their hearts will be open to changes that God would make and that those they are serving will be changed by God through their service. And while you’re at it …offer up a prayer for me as well! You can keep apprised of their activities throughout the week by logging onto www.haysvillechristianchurch. |
