NOTE FROM THE INTERIM PASTOR
The General Assembly of the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) begins July 29th in Indianapolis, Indiana, concluding
with a communion service on August 2nd. The General Assembly is held every
two years, and is a gathering of the church from around the country. I
have attended most of the Assemblies dated back to 1995 in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. I have only missed one, that being the 2007 Assembly in
Fort Worth, Texas. I was on my way to begin a new interim ministry at that
particular time.
The General Assembly is a time to meet old friends from around the
country; some friends I only see every couple of years, along with meeting
new ones. It is also a time to catch up on what is taking place in our
denomination, as well as spend some time in the exhibition hall. That is
usually the time to get a fresh supply of pens and post-it notes, and any
thing of a souvenir nature. It is also a time to catch up on the work of
these various agencies.
Most of all, it is a time of refreshment and renewal. It is a time
to hear some of the outstanding preachers in our denomination, plus being a
part of some various kinds of worship experiences. I look forward to this
exciting experience.
Blessings be with you all.
Milton Bryarly, Interim Minister

IN SYMPATHY
Our sympathy is extended to Ed and the family of
Patricia Ann Carr. After a lengthy illness Pat lost her battle with cancer
on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Funeral services were held at First Christian
Church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Her strong faith in God
was very evident in her life. She was a role model to us all as she fought
the cancer. Whenever possible, Pat continued to attend church and Sunday
School, and faithfully attended her committee meetings.
A memorial has been established with First Christian Church and the
American Cancer Society.

THANK YOU
Dear friends at FCC,
Thank you so much for all the cards, calls, visits and delicious
food while I was recovering from my knee replacement surgery. Although
I’m still recovering I’m back at work and moving right along. Most
importantly I thank you for all the prayers. A special thank you to
Merrill and Dee for being at the hospital with Butch during my surgery!
Butch and Mary Beth
Praise the Lord for such a wonderful church family!
So many good folks came to my aid when I moved two weeks ago. They
made such short work of a big job. Thank you over and over again! Then in
less than a week you supported me again with prayers and cards as I
traveled to AZ for my sister’s funeral. Virgie is now at rest in
Jesus’ loving arms and free from the cares of the world. Thank you
everyone for your caring support! May God bless each and every one of you!

GARAGE SALE
It’s time for some trash talk! We want your junk! Get busy and
clean out your closets and garages. Get rid of clothes that don’t fit
and those appliances and knick knacks that Aunt Hattie left you, but that
you secretly despise. We’ll turn your trash into treasure at the
Haysville City-wide garage sale, Saturday, August 8. If you have lots of
boxes or heavy items and need help transporting them to the church, call
Machaelle (after August 3) and we’ll arrange a time for pick-up. If you
can manage on your own, just alert Dee in the office and she can tell you
where to unload your stuff. Thanks!

YOUTH
We survived Serve-ivor! Thank you to all who prayed for us. We
called upon the Lord many times throughout the week, and we were
strengthened through Him and the knowledge that so many of you had us
lifted up in prayer.
If you missed our Mission highlight presentation on July 5th, be
sure to grab Morgan Shetler, Alex Marsh, Betsy Burke or me and ask us about
the week. I think I can safely speak for the group and say it was an
amazing experience for us all.

| FROM: JOE AND BEVERLY Mc CORMICK . . . On the Road
Again
We made it to Gold Hill, OR! Our new mailing
address is 12297 Blackwell Road, Central Point, OR 97502. But get this,
we live only ¼ mile from Gold Hill, OR, but our address for the RV Park is
Central Point.
We saw a beautiful sight yesterday on our morning walk. A mother
bald eagle was feeding her brood in her nest atop an old telephone pole
(the ones with the glass terminal covers). The pole was not far from the
road so we got a real good look. God is beautiful to create such splendor
and joy. I hope I remember this when things get tougher.
Please pray for us for we are still searching for jobs and our
unemployment is running out. We miss you very much.
Joe & Bev McCormick
