THE PASTOR |
Dear Church Family,
The vans are cleaned, returned, and paid in full. Just when I was
starting to relax just a bit after a grueling, yet exhilarating week in
Mexico, I get a text asking when we were meeting to plan the next trip. I
laughed but was equally excited at the willingness of the crew to
return and continue the work we started. FCC is an awesome church. You
pooled your resources, sewed, took time off work, and endured brutal
heat to bring the Good News of Christ to people who desperately needed a
word of hope! I’m so proud to call this church my faith family!
This week I begin a new sermon series entitled “Taking a Risk to be
the Church.” I will be introducing the series for the next two weeks
then launch into four stepping stones to authentic community. Before we
get to the four “stepping stones” we need to revisit our fundamental
faith, something I’m very excited to share. Digging deep into God’s Word
and discovering the nuggets of truth He has for us is exciting and
serves to remind us of the wonder and beauty of His Word!
As you walk into the Worship Center this Sunday, you will find a
couple of changes. First, the communion table will be on the floor. One
thing our denomination has said over and over is that the Lord’s table
is available to all. I believe that! I believe that anyone, regardless
of ethnicity, financial status, standing in the community or any other
social group should always be welcome at the Lord’s table when they
trust Christ as their Savior. Therefore, it will be placed on the floor
symbolically accessible to all. Second, you will find the pulpit in the
center of the platform. Again symbolically we find the Word of God and
its proclamation at the center of all we do. This reminds us that God’s
Word is central to our thinking and all else revolves around not the
preacher, but God’s precious Word!
One of our men has faithfully crafted these two pieces of chancel
furniture, and they are absolutely beautiful, but as elegant and
beautiful as they are, they do not compare to the beauty of real
communion with our Lord daily and the expression of His love found in
His Word.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday and sharing in the awesome
wonder of communion with, and proclamation of, our Savior Jesus Christ!
Blessings, Jay

| THANK YOU |
I have been blessed in so many ways. One of the many things
is my extended family at church. Jesse, Machaelle, and Max Shetler, Ron
and Crystal Swibold and Ron Lewis helped me move back into my house
last month. I could not have done that task without them.
Many thanks! Linda Bergeson

GROWTH |
This coming Friday night, July 30 at 7:00 p.m. is our UFO
night at church. If you have a craft that you are working on, bring it
to church and work on it here. Some of us bring sewing machines to work
on quilts and other items, while others bring scrap-booking items or
work on cards. Once again, if you have a craft that you need to finish,
bring it Friday night with a snack and enjoy lots of fun and Christian
fellowship. See You then!!!!
