PRAISE THE LORD! DID YOU KNOW? .
|
Jim Walker grew a 36 inch cucumber in his garden this
summer.
This Spring I decided to step out in faith and submit to some
Christian magazines. I have recently learned that both articles submitted
will be published. One will appear in the Jan/Feb 2009 issue of Alive Now
(published by The Upper Room) and the other will appear in the Spring 2009
issue of The Secret Place. Nancy Sturm
Lynn got back to Texas before he had to go to the hospital for an
infected gall bladder. Julie got to bring him home yesterday with nursing
care to check on him daily. Walt and Joeann Strawder
Jeanette Eastman and Pat Falley will be reunited in marriage on
October 9, 2008. We rejoice in God’s grace and that our family will be
whole again. Jeanette Eastman
Zac Hall is back in the USA after a year in Spain. He will continue
his studies at WSU. Johnna Hall
I’m very thankful for David Walker! This morning as we were
preparing for worship, I glanced over David's shoulder and was impressed
with the hours and hours of work it takes at the computer to display our
screen data. For every hour he commands the sound system you can bet he
spends two hours preparing.
Morgan Wegner and her family were special guests at the KU football
game Saturday, September 6, 2008. Morgan won the trip through a drawing at
Carlos O'Kelly's. She was on the field for the coin toss and was
introduced as the "Carlos O'Kelly's Jr. Captain of the Day." Morgan was
also presented a KU jersey at halftime. The family reported a wonderful,
but wet, day at the game. Congratulations!

Family Fun Night
Please join us this coming Saturday for an evening of family fun.
Bring sandwiches, a salad or your favorite dish and a board game to play.
We start at 6:00 p.m. and end around 8:30 or 9:00. There will be a movie
for the children to see. See you then.
Cookies for a Cause
The cause for the month of September is items for Youthville.
Youthville is dedicated to the mission of Giving Children Back Their
Childhood and is one of the largest most widely recognized nonprofit,
privatized child welfare agencies in Kansas. Over 500 compassionate and
devoted employees provide services and care for over 1800 children on any
given day.
Youthville's vision is to provide the best sources of help to
children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected. Youthville
continues to be a leader in the industry by implementing new, innovative
treatment programs and services.
Youthville meets the needs of children and families by providing
services throughout Kansas. If each family in our congregation could bring
just one item this month from the wish list that was in last Sunday's
bulletin it would be a wonderful gift to the youth that this organization
helps. Once again, thank you for all the causes you support.

REGIONAL ASSEMBLY October 17-18,
2008, Manhattan, KS
|
"Blessed Be the Labyrinth that Binds"
The planning team for the 2008 Regional Assembly is excited about
the theme and the program being developed for the biennial gathering. Each
congregation and all the ministries of the Region will be celebrated! Yes,
all the various ministries of our Region will be highlighted and
celebrated!
This means . . . each congregation and each minister will be an
important part of the assembly. Each ministry of our region will be lifted
up in our regional labyrinth. Together all of these will be brought before
God in worship. We will celebrate what it means to be a part of the body
of Christ known as the Christian Church in Kansas!
What else can we look forward to? Dr. Nancy Pittman, of Phillips
Theological Seminary will serve as our Labyrinth Theologian. Dr. Pittman
will bring to us a number of comments and reflections to help us recognize
God’s presence and movement within our various ministries.
Installations will be celebrated too! The call of Paxton Jones
as our Regional minister will be celebrated, and our two new regional
associates, Ken Marston and Renee Bridwell will be installed.
