NOTE FROM THE INTERIM PASTOR
With the call of Jay Lewis to be your pastor here at First Christian
Church in Haysville, it has set a time for my departure from this
interim assignment. Some of you have asked, “What are you going to do
now?”
Between now and then, I will be in the pulpit each Sunday preparing
our congregation to receive your new minister. It will also be a time
to share in Thanksgiving, and being the Advent Season, the preparation
for Christmas and the celebration of the coming of Christ into the
world. I will continue to be a pastor to our congregation, being where
people are in need. I will be carrying out the usual and necessary
functions of a minister, including officiating for a wedding here in
the church.
Beyond that, God has not told me what I will be doing or where I
might be going. It has always been an exciting adventure for me. God
does not necessarily give me a long notice of my next assignment. He
gives me the words from Psalm 27:14: “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and
let your heart take courage; year, wait for the Lord.” I have done what
I need to do in the matter of updating my search and call papers. The
rest I have to leave up to the Lord as He works through my various
booking agents (better known as regional ministers and staff).
There is a lot of time between now and then. We might be surprised to see what Good can do in the next few weeks.
Blessings be with you all. Milton Bryarly, Interim Minister

NEW LOVE NEW MERCY
From Johnna Hall, for the Consecration Sunday Team
We shared a memorable Consecration Sunday. From the personal
testimony of Beverly Sale of God's trustworthiness, Jesse Shetler's
"uncomfortable talk" on tithing, guest speaker's Dale Richmond's
presentation on the riches and responsibilities of our faith, to the
powerful singing of Dale Atkeson of the theme song, "Whatever I Have"
and the delicious Celebration Dinner following—it was a Spirit-filled
gathering of God's people.
The purpose of the Consecration Sunday is to communicate to the
church the financial commitments of its members so that a budget for
the following year can be responsibly built. While we still expect to
receive some commitments from members unable to attend on Sunday, we DO
know that we received 45 commitments, 9 of which were new ones. Fifteen
of the commitments were increases over last year's commitments. Based
on cards received and past giving patterns of ones we have not heard
from yet, an educated guess at the total would reflect a 2.4% overall
increase compared to last year's.
Thank you for your willingness to bring the first
fruits of your income. This in itself is an act of worship, and
reflects your readiness to live in a covenant relationship with God.
"The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in God."
Lamentations 3:24

THANK YOU
I
would like to personally thank the members of my committee and the five
other women in the church for helping put together 60 jars of various
mixes and 21 mugs of hot drinks that we sent to Kansas Christian
Home for their annual fall bazaar. Money earned from this bazaar is
used to help residents of the home who have run out of funds. Thank you
so much for your dedication and support of this ministry. A special
thanks goes to the Seekers Sunday School class for the brownie mix jars
they contributed. Lenora Heath
Thank you to Marlaine Holmes for playing the piano for Youth Sunday.
Thank you for the birthday cards for my “milestone” birthday! I
enjoyed every one of them. I especially enjoyed the voice mail from my
dear friend (M.H.) and her rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Dee
Thank you Dale for teaching us the beautiful new song! Your voice was really in tune on Sunday. Beautiful!
Thank you for your gracious giving which helps the truth to the inmates! Christian Ministries to Offenders staff
Thank you to Johnna Hall and her committee for all the time spent preparing for Commitment Sunday.
Thank you for the “Our Daily Bread.” Linda Bergeson

UFO
This coming Friday is UFO craft night. We usually work on our own
projects, share snacks and lots of fun fellowship. This Friday we will
be working on baby quilts again. We have completed four quilts and need
to make five or six more. We sure could use some help with this
project. If you have a sewing machine and would like to join us Friday,
let Peggy or Lenora know. If you would rather work on one at home, let
