THANK YOU

Mike arrived safely in China. Thank you for your prayers and concerns. Merrill and Dee
Thank you to my church family for the beautiful card and the
generous gift you gave me for Christmas. I am so blessed by my work at
First Christian. May God bless each and every one you. Dee
To my church friends,
I want to thank everyone for the cards, hospital visits and those
who sent cookies. Keep us in your prayers. God bless and Merry
Christmas. Kirby and Pat Barnes
Praise the Lord. Plinio had his cast removed Wednesday and now he
has a wrist brace. He will wear the brace six weeks and will have
therapy six weeks. The doctor said the X-ray looked good and the
outside of his arm has healed nicely. Thank you for all your prayers
and phone calls. Plinio and Joyce
I will long remember our closing service on December 13th. The
beautifully framed picture of the Wednesday Morning Bible Study along
with the picture mug, were a complete surprise. The picture will find a
permanent place to hang in my study here in my home. Also the “Nebraska
Throw Blanket” from the craft ladies has definitely come in handy here
in the severe cold weather. It was a great day, and several pictures
can be shared on my Facebook. Also, many thanks to the excellent crew
who helped load a truck for me and move the rest of the furniture from
the house. This crew made short work out if this project, with everyone
able to depart and be on the road in a 2 hour span. I will long
remember First Christian Church in Haysville, and will continue to be
interested in the ministry and work of this church. We can keep in
touch by Facebook.
Milton Bryarly
Thank you very much for the beautiful card and sentiment and the
generous gift I received from you all last Sunday. I am truly blessed
by my work here at FCC. Our youth are all such wonderful and great,
great kids. I love my job and I thank you for your continued support
and encouragement. Machaelle

TO ALL DEACONS

As
we are rapidly approaching the new year - and therefore the need for a
new serving schedule - I am letting you know that untill I have access
to the upcoming list of both new and returning deacons, we will plan to
continue using the '09 schedule for serving (at least for Jan.), so
those of us scheduled for January - we are 'on the job' Jan. 3 (that is
Sunday after next!). I believe the elections are coming soon so I will
have the opportunity to add newly elected deacons to the list and
reorganize the schedule.
I would like to emphasize getting all those elected into active
participation. The office of Deacon is a very important position in our
congregation, and even more so, to our commitment to our God. If there
are suggestions for changes in the schedule, please let me know.
As soon as the elections are held and I have had time to 'process'
the new info, we will have a scheduled meeting about duties, etc.
Thank you all for making the commitment to serve as deacon and for the time and effort you give to this position of service.

MEET OUR MINISTER AND HIS WIFE

Today
marks the start of the ministry of our new pastor, Jay Lewis. For those
of you who do not know, Jay and his wife, Dartha grew up in this
church. They married and moved away and have been involved in ministry
since 1986, including youth ministry, and leading churches in Georgia,
Oklahoma, and Kansas.
As we approach this change in leadership in our church, I would
like to share some words from Jay found in one of his initial contacts
with the search committee. It will give you an idea of his focus as a
pastor. "I want you to know that my only agenda as pastor is to share
the awesome love of Christ with those entrusted to my care and to lead
the church to share their own faith journeys with those yet to follow
Him and to teach the precious Word of God in a language that people of
the 21st century understand."
We are delighted to welcome Jay and his wife Dartha to our church
family. We all look forward to working together with you, Jay and
Dartha, as we continue to work out the plans and purposes that God has
called us to do in partnership with Jesus Christ. (Marsha Devan,
