HAYSVILLE FCC NEWSLETTER
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
|
FROM THE PASTOR
|
Words cannot express our gratitude for the gracious welcome you all
have given us. We look forward with great anticipation as God uses each
of us to take the Good News of Jesus to our community and beyond.
Just a few things to share…
• We are in the beginning stages of planning a mission trip to
Mexico this summer. We intend to make the trip affordable so anyone God
calls will be able to raise the needed resources to go. • Plans are being developed for Family, Men’s and Women’s
ministries. Dartha and I have always been very strong proponents of
these vital ministries. We both worked in these ministries at Westlink
and have accumulated many resources that will lend themselves to
ministry to families that will inspire, teach and empower us to look
outside the church walls for opportunities to serve.
• One of my absolute passions is; the church must grow smaller, in
order to grow larger. The Christian life is best lived out in small
communities of faith! This is accomplished through a network of small
groups meeting in homes, offices, restaurants and any other place where
people can meet and “do life” together all across our community! This
will take a huge effort by people who have a passion for authentic
community. This ministry is sure to bear much fruit.
• Finally, we are putting together a group of people to develop
some goals (both short term and long term) that will enable us to
formulate an overall plan to develop a growth strategy that gives us
guidance as we launch together this new phase in the life of FCC. The
ministries mentioned above will serve us well when added to the
existing ministries of our church.
Beginning Sunday January 3rd I will begin a series entitled “Basic
Gear for Life’s Journey”. I pray it will be as much a blessing to those
of you who hear as it has been for me to prepare. The four week series
will cover basic the necessities we must possess to move along our
journey of life successfully, based upon a couple of mountain climbing
trips I experienced. I learned some valuable lessons on these trips
that parallel life in so many ways.
Week 1- Trail Guide- Word of God
Week 2- Fellow Travelers- Spiritual Family
Week 3- Cliffs and Falling Rocks- Pitfalls on the Journey
Week 4- Personal Trail Guide- The Holy Spirit
Remember you can access FCC sermons via the web on our website (www.fcchaysville.org)

Dear Church family,
Thank you so much for the generous Christmas gift. It is such a
pleasure and an honor to serve you. Organizing the website is just one

birthday/anniversary list. Please take the time on Sunday to stop by
the table in the entryway and make sure your family information is
correct by making additions/corrections to the list. Throughout the
year if there are changes in your address, telephone number or e-mail
address etc., please let me know so I can keep each list updated. If I

FROM THE MAILBOX
|
Dear Friends,
I want to thank all the people that helped me pack up, load my
household goods and move me to Topeka. I could not have done any of it
without all of you. Marsha Devan is in the wrong business. She is the
best packer/loader I have ever seen. Nancy Sturm is the fastest
box/crate picker-upper in Kansas. Thank you Donna and Dale Atkeson for
all your help; your help was done with love. Thank you to Barbara and
Allen for the use of your truck. Thank you to Bill Eastman for your
“foreman” work and the use of your truck. AND thank you Ron and Crystal
for all you did. These two people work like their lives depend on it.
Thank you for bringing your mother and father into my life. A.J. was a
good “vice foreman” during the move. Thanks for all the support,
prayers and love. Please forgive me if I have forgotten anyone.
The job is going good. I am finally getting around Topeka without
getting too lost. As long as I know where south is I am alright.
Love to all, Linda Bergeson
